Johanna Hyatt has been dedicated to volunteering and serving the Battle Ground community since 2013
BATTLE GROUND – The committee for the Battle Ground Citizen of the Year surprised the 2025 winner while doing none other than volunteering their time. Johanna Hyatt was attending the GFWC meeting when the committee showed up to announce she was chosen as the recipient for the 2025-year honor. Johanna was very surprised and honored.
Hyatt has been dedicated to volunteering and serving the Battle Ground community since 2013. She has held numerous leadership roles with the GFWC organization including President 2017-2019 & 2022-2025. She has chaired the Ladybug bazaar for the last 7 years which helps raise funds to support many local projects. She is an active member of Friends of the Battle Ground Library and volunteers regularly at Ben’s Books within the library. She was instrumental in establishing the Little Free Library near city hall. She volunteers or helps manage projects benefiting several nonprofits in our community including but not limited to Comfort Quilts with Clark County Quilters, North County Community Food Bank, Family Resource Center, Battle Ground Senior Citizens, and the Lions Club.
Those who know Hyatt describe her as a quiet but determined leader who consistently turns ideas into action. Her nomination for Citizen of the Year was a unanimous vote by the membership of GFWC Battle Ground, reflecting the respect and admiration she has earned through years of service.
The public is invited to celebrate Johanna on Wednesday, April 29 at 6 p.m. at Prairie Tavern in their event space. This is a no host event.
Johanna will also be honored on July 18 by riding in the Battle Ground Harvest Days Parade and participating in a special ceremony with the Royal Rosarians, where she will plant a rose in Central Park.
