AMBOY – The annual North Clark Historical Museum Quilt Show is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Saturday) and noon to 4 p.m. (Sunday).
North Clark Historical Museum is in upper Amboy at 21416 NE 399th St. in the renovated 1910 United Brethren Church. The Museum was incorporated in 1988 and opened to the public in June of 2000.
Demonstrations on sewing binding on quilts will be held Saturday, March 22 at noon and Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m. Demonstrations will be held in the basement.
The event will feature the Chelatchie Quilters. The theme is “Quilting Builds Friendships”
The quilters will feature their own quilts. Members of the group are Terry Cook, Debbie Bethje, Terry Walker, Terri Kelley, Marcia Colgate, and Donna Davis. The Chelatchie Quilters make the quilt for the museum raffle every year.
The group has been meeting and making quilts for many years. They were originally called the Museum Quilters. In 2015, the group was Terry Cook, Barbara Rogers, Marcia Colgate, Debbie Bethje, Kyla Huget, Maureen Place, Evelyn Dobbins, and Cheryl Collins.
In 2017, the group became known as the Chelatchie Quilters. At that time, the group included Terry Cook, Barbara Rogers, Marcia Colgate, Debbie Bethje, Kyla Huget, Maureen Place, Evelyn Dobbins, and Cheryl Collins.
They first met once a week to make quilts — for themselves, for others, and for the Museum. They have made many charity quilts. They now meet twice a week. Terry Cook, owner of Chelatchie Quilts, has a very nice room with sewing machines, material, and whatever else they need to sew and piece the quilts.
Mary McCarthy, a member of the Stitchery Circle, will put on “Build A Block” demonstrations throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday for adults and children.
There is no admission fee for this event but donations are appreciated. The event is wheelchair accessible.

The North Clark Historical Museum was founded in 1988 and is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. The doors were opened in June of 2000.
