Any child who will be five years old by Aug. 31, 2022 is eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall
It’s time to enroll the Class of 2035. Online enrollment is open for kindergartners who will attend Battle Ground Public Schools next year. Any child who will be five years old by Aug. 31, 2022 is eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall. Students who enroll in kindergarten benefit from the advantages of a developmentally appropriate program.
Parents will need proof of their child’s birth date (such as a birth certificate) and a signed and completed Washington state Certificate of Immunization Status form. Please note that the State of Washington requires that immunization records be medically verified. Families can find out which school their child will attend by using the Clark County Property Information Center or by calling the district boundaries office at (360) 885-6577.
Enrolled students and their families will be invited to attend a kindergarten orientation in the spring where they can get to know their school and learn more about the kindergarten program. Kindergartners can also participate in JumpStart, a four-day program in August that helps kindergarten students get acclimated to school. JumpStart space is limited and determined on a first-come, first-serve basis. Enrolling your child prior to these events is a key step to being prepared for the school year, and helps the district plan for the number of teachers it will need to serve our youngest students.
Orientation Schedules
Enroll your 2022-23 kindergartner online now so that you can attend a kindergarten welcome orientation at your school. Orientations will be scheduled in May, and your child’s school will contact you with specific dates, times, and locations after enrollment is complete.

2022-23 School Calendar and Smart Start
School will begin next year on Wednesday, Aug. 31; however, kindergartners have a staggered Smart Start that allows small groups of students to get acclimated to the school environment on the first days of school. Parents will receive a letter before the start of school about their child’s start date. The 2022-23 school calendar is on the district website.Â
Before and After-School Care
The district has partnered with Right At School to provide before and after school care at its primary schools, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day school is in session.
