Journey Theater Arts Group to presents ‘James and the Giant Peach Jr.’

RIDGEFIELD — Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, “Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach Jr.” is a new take on the tale. Featuring a “wickedly tuneful” score and a witty and charming book, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery may very well become a classic.

Journey Theater Arts Group will present “James and the Giant Peach Jr.” with performances spanning across two weekends, Feb. 17-26. Public performances will be held Fri., Feb. 17, 7 p.m. and Sat., Feb. 18, 7 p.m.; and Fri., Feb. 24, 7 p.m., Sat., Feb. 25, 2 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 26, 2 p.m. All performances will be held at Ridgefield High School, located at 2630 S. Hillhurst Road, Ridgefield.

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of “enormous proportions.” James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way.
