Clark County Fire District 6 is offering free window latches for anyone who needs them
VANCOUVER — As evidenced by a recent Vancouver case, recent hot weather is substantially increasing the risk of children falling from open windows.
A child was seriously hurt Monday afternoon after falling from a second-story window at the One Lake Place Condominiums on 121st avenue in Vancouver.
“It’s only natural for folks to open windows to cool off when temperatures hit the 80’s,” says Clark County Fire District 6 PIO, Dave Schmitke. “This way you can have the cooling effect of an open window and the safety of an effective window stop.”
As part of “Safe Kids Clark County,” Clark County Fire District 6 is offering free window latches for anyone who needs them. The KidCo Window Stops control window opening height and width, and prevents children from playing with and falling through open windows.
The free window stops are available during regular business hours at District 6’s main station, 8800 NE Hazel Dell Avenue.
