VANCOUVER – On Tuesday (Sept. 1) at about 6:10 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to a gas station at 8515 NE Andresen Rd. for the report that a man had been trying to get into vehicles at the gas pumps.
The man had reportedly poured gas all over the ground, had poured gas on a truck that was parked at the pumps, lit his own car on fire and himself on fire and had fled the area on foot. A person who was at the gas station servicing the fire extinguishers was able to extinguish the vehicle that was on fire, prior to police arrival.
The man was located underneath a semi tractor trailer nearby and was taken into custody. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries related to gasoline and burns. There were no other reported injuries.
The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office and Vancouver Police are investigating. No additional information is available at this time.
