Athletes from Southwest Washington high schools to be recognized for their play, academic record, and community service

The Clark County chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame will hold its annual banquet on Jan. 15 at Hudson’s Bay High School.
This year, 32 seniors representing 18 schools from throughout Southwest Washington have been nominated for the scholarships that are awarded by the chapter.
The chapter also will announce its winners for coach of the year, assistant coach of the year, and other contributions to football.
The football players are nominated by their schools for not only their performance on the field, but their excellence in the classroom as well as service to their communities. In all, six athletes will earn scholarships — three backs and three linemen.
All nominees, in formal attire, will have their accomplishments announced to the banquet attendees.
“There is little that separates the scholarship winners from those who don’t get a scholarship,” said Scott Evenson, president of the local chapter. “They are all outstanding members of our community, and we, as a society, should embrace their achievements in each of these areas.”
A ticket to the banquet also includes dessert.

“I feel the yearly nominees deserve to be recognized for who they are and what they've done,” Evenson said. “It is important we encourage them to continue down the road to further success as they embark on their bright futures.”
This will be the 28th year for the local chapter’s banquet.
