Mic’d Up with Hockinson coach Rick Steele

Listening in to the two-time defending state football champions

HOCKINSON — The pre-game talk.

The halftime huddle.

The post-game meeting.

It’s all there, as well as some of the emotion from Friday’s night’s Hockinson vs. Archbishop Murphy football game.

Clark County Today mic’d up Hockinson coach Rick Steele, to get a feel for what it’s like on the sideline of an intense high school football game.

This was a clash of champions.

The Hawks, who have won the past two Class 2A state titles, had a 28-game win streak going into this one. Archbishop Murphy won the 2016 state title.

We did more that watch this game. We heard this game, from a very interesting perspective.

Here are some of the highlights, from the early evening twilight, to the darkness of Hockinson’s first loss since 2016, to the light of hope, provided by Steele, reminding his players that there is a lot of football left this season.
