Coaching the football coaches

Youth, high school coaches get certified before season starts

VANCOUVER — High school and youth football coaches are required to get certified in safe practices.

Last weekend, Andy Ryland of USA Football came to Vancouver to teach Clark County Youth Football coaches concussion awareness and emergency action planning, as well as some tips on how to run safe drills.

Several high school coaching staffs were there, too.

The first day of practice for high school football is Wed., Aug. 21.
