BATTLE GROUND — Al & Ernie’s Bakery Cafe is expanding to a second location to serve its handcrafted baked goods and artisan beverages on the east side of Battle Ground.
The popular Main Street cafe has leased a 940 sq ft space at 802 SE 14th Place in Battle Ground Village, and will begin remodeling late 2026 for an expected early 2027 opening. The space previously was leased and operated by Blue Castle Coffee, which did not renew its lease and vacated the property in August.
"We are thrilled that Al & Ernie’s has been so well embraced by the community. A second location allows us to serve the community through an intimate location, while ensuring that Battle Ground Village maintains a coffee shop for residents, employers and guests," said Devin Bowen, general manager of Al & Ernie’s Bakery Cafe.
Named Al & Ernie’s in the Village, the cafe will be about one-third the size of the original Al & Ernie's and will carry the familiar Al & Ernie’s look, feel, and most importantly, taste. The full breakfast menu with favorites like biscuits and gravy, and bagel sandwiches, as well as the lunch menu with a variety of soups and sandwiches, will stay at the original Main Street location, while the new Village location will serve a limited selection of baked goods, alongside classic espresso, coffee and tea.
The original Al & Ernies has exceeded expectations since its opening in 2024 and consistently welcomes between 5,000 and 6,000 customers each week. Its flagship cinnamon roll is a Clark County favorite, with nearly 40,000 sold in 2026 to date.
Al & Ernie’s in the Village is the fourth local hospitality business initiated by the Battle Ground Hospitality Collective, which is owned by brothers Camden and Mac Spiller of Battle Ground.
