VANCOUVER – This was quite the bounce-back game for the Mountain View Thunder.

Stinging from a tough loss against one Class 4A rival in Week 2, the Thunder took out their frustrations Friday night against another Class 4A team. They also worked on a new aspect of their attack.

Glen Perry Jr., used to displaying his running skills, showed off his arm, throwing for 314 yards and six touchdowns in a 55-22 victory over Battle Ground at McKenzie Stadium.

Mountain View, the reigning Class 3A Greater St. Helens League champion, has gone 2-1 in three non-league games against 4A competition this season. The Thunder lost a close one last week to rival Union.

This week, it was a chance for Mountain View to get some revenge on the Tigers, who scored a combined 117 points against the Thunder the past two seasons with a quality passing attack of their own.

This week, it looked like Mountain View was the passing juggernaut.

Perry had touchdown passes to Makai Anderson, Mitchell Delmage, Jack Mertens, Rodolfo Montiel and Phillip Earnhardt, in that order, mixing it up, sharing the ball. He found Montiel again for his sixth TD of the night, giving Mountain View a 49-14 lead.

Battle Ground (0-3) did get a lead in this one, capping a nine-play drive to open the game on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Seth Workman to Noah Barr.

Mountain View would score the next 42 points.

Perry and Nile Jones led the Thunder rushing attack, each gaining 62 yards.

In all, Mountain View put up 475 yards of offense.

Andrew Gulliford capped the scoring for the Thunder, scooping up a Battle Ground fumble and returning it 45 yards.

Workman scrambled for a 5-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and he found Brock Robinson for a 21-yard touchdown pass with a second to play in the game for the Tigers.
