Skyview returns to state football semifinals

VANCOUVER — Skyview posted a 35-14 victory over Lake Stevens Saturday at Kiggins Bowl to advance to the semifinals of the Class 4A state high school football playoffs.

The Storm improved to 9-3 on the season with the win over the previously-unbeaten Vikings, champions of the WesCo Conference. Skyview will advance to play Richland at 3 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 26 at Lampson Stadium in Kennewick.

Skyview is returning to the state semifinals for the first time since 2011 when the Storm defeated Lake Stevens 38-14. Skyview went on to finish second in the state that season, losing to Skyline in the 4A championship game.

The Storm was playing in the state playoffs for the eighth time in the past nine seasons.

Camas, this season’s Class 4A Greater St. Helens League champions, also qualified for the state semifinals. The Papermakers, ranked No. 1 in the latest Associated Press 4A state poll, defeated Skyline 28-14 Saturday to advance. Camas will meet Sumner at 1 p.m. Sat., Nov. 26 in a game to be played at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver.
