Looks like a promising weekend for several Clark County swimmers to place at state
Clark County high school swimmers are set for their state championships this week in Federal Way.
There are 24 athletes from Clark County schools who qualified for the 2022 Boys State Swim and Dive Championships at the King County Aquatic Center. The event begins Thursday and concludes Saturday.
One of those athletes has the fastest qualifying time in his event. Union’s Sam Empey is listed No. 1 on the psych sheet for the Class 4A 50-yard freestyle. He is listed third in the 100 butterfly, as well.
Teammate Owen Robertson is seeded fourth in the 500 freestyle and fifth in the 200 freestyle.
Union’s 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams also are in the top four going into state competition.
Columbia River’s Liam Noftsker is seeded third in both the Class 2A 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
Hockinson’s Liam Dunn is listed fourth in the 2A 100 backstroke.
