Maddie Kemp named to soccer All-America list for second time
CAMAS — Anyone who has seen her play already knows that Maddie Kemp is one of the best high school soccer players in the nation.
She was last year, and it is now official this year, too.
United Soccer Coaches released its list of All-America standouts this week, and Kemp, a junior from Camas, is on the team again.
Kemp, with still another high school season to be played, is Camas’ all-time leading goal scorer with 88. Kemp scored 41 goals this fall, helping Camas to a third-place finish at the Class 4A state tournament. The Papermakers won the state title in 2016. She scored 31 goals in that championship season.
Kemp, who plans to sign with Gonzaga University, is one of three players from the Northwest to make this fall’s All-America list. Maria Van Holm of Issaquah and Emma Treasure of Jesuit in Portland, both seniors, also made the team.
There are 60 girls on the All-America team for the states that have fall soccer seasons. Six of the players, including Kemp, were on the All-America team last year, too.
