A reception for the artists will be held at the gallery 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1. The event is sponsored by the Clark County Arts Commission. It is free and open to the public.
Kevin Drake
Kevin Drake grew up in Vancouver where he developed an interest in art at an early age and enrolled in art courses throughout his early school years and continued art education at Clark College.
“In 2018 I began to experiment with an expressive use of color, conceptual mark making, and a flagrant amount of paint, all the while incorporating the ideas of the modern abstract artists I looked up to,” says Drake. “I was able to create a unique fusion of their styles, and my own interpretation of self-expression.”
Ken Spurlock
Ken Spurlock has a passion for painting on canvas and drawing freehand on paper. He uses a vast array of techniques including acrylic paint, watercolor, charcoal, pen, markers, collage pieces and photography.
“My inspiration comes from the natural world, my own imagination and raw emotions, creating pieces that express the essence of my soul in a way that words simply cannot,” says Spurlock. “Each work is an opportunity to explore the complexity of mixed media art and the beauty of artistic expression.”
