Woodland’s Shop with a Cop 2018, Nine law enforcement agencies join festive shopping event

WOODLAND — Uniformed officers from nine law enforcement agencies were able to shop with 147 children at the eighth annual Shop with a Cop event at the Woodland Walmart.

There were 43 officers present, and each child received about $100 to purchase new winter clothing, gifts for their family and of course some toys.

“We just try to have the kids have  as much fun as possible,” said Woodland Police Department’s Sgt. Jim Keller.

Keller said this year’s event was the biggest to date, and stressed how important the positive impact is for many agencies, since the interaction with law enforcement for many of the children is usually stressful and negative.
