The 2022 Washougal Art Festival is currently open for applications from visual artists working in all media
Local multimedia artist Tamara Dinius’ piece, The Swimming Hole, has been selected as the featured artwork for the 2022 Washougal Art Festival promotional materials. The festival will be held on Sat., Aug. 13 at Reflection Plaza in downtown Washougal.
“Each year the Washougal Arts and Culture Alliance board selects a local artist to provide a work that is ‘Washougal inspired’ for our use in festival posters, social media, flyers and advertising,” explained WACA volunteer Rene’ Carroll. “We are honored to feature Tammy who looks to the world around her to create art that reflects hope, kindness, self-connection, joy and love.”
According to Dinius, The Swimming Hole was inspired by visits to the Washougal River by her husband, young daughters and Jack, their Black Labrador. “They had a special spot where they enjoyed throwing sticks for the dog and rambling over the rocks along the river,” she said. “For me, the Washougal River Road during the summer is magical. The dappled sun comes through the leaves of the trees lined along the river road and I am lost in my surroundings.”
Dinius has been painting since 2013 and began to realize that her art was impacting people. “Whether inspiring them or bringing them joy, I started adding my own quotes to my art,” she said. “When I see the impact my art and words have on another person, I am touched beyond measure.” To learn more about Dinius, her works and classes, visit her website https://www.womenwineandwords.com/
The 2022 Washougal Art Festival is currently open for applications from visual artists working in all media. The entry deadline is May 1, 2022. The festival is intended for professional artists who are actively producing and exhibiting their work to sell. All entries will be juried based on originality, creativity, craftsmanship, and professionalism as well as the expression of a unique vision and style, and the mastery over the artist’s chosen medium. Artists are selected for festival participation by a jury of local artists and gallery owners.
