Ridgefield’s First Saturday event will celebrate Youth Arts Month

RIDGEFIELD — During the month of March, the Ridgefield School District will celebrate Youth Arts Month, kicking off with the city of Ridgefield’s First Saturday event on Sat., March 4.

The March 4 First Saturday events will kick off with a Pancake Breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Ridgefield Community Center, located at 210 N. Main Ave. The breakfast will be a fundraiser for the Ridgefield Art Association and will be served by the Lion’s Club.

From 9 a.m.-2 p.m., an Art Fair & More will take place at the community center. Take part in hands-on art activities featuring Ridgefield Art Association fabulous folded flowers and Picasso interactive mosaic, Ridgefield Library activities, finger painting and more.

Attendees can also help create the very first ever collaborative work of art by working on the Ridgefield Community Mural. The mural is sponsored by iQ Credit Union.

An Art Puzzle Scavenger Hunt will also take place, so pick up your game board and then find puzzle pieces at participating merchants to create a work of art and win prizes.

The Farmers Market and First Saturday Vendor Fair will also be going on, drinks and snacks will be available.

Also from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., event attendees can participate in a Boat Safety Check at the Port of Ridgefield, sponsored by James McPhee State Farm and Fishing Addicts NW.

From 6-8 p.m., guest can take part in Chalk Art at Koi Pond Cellars. From 7-8:30 p.m., Art Alive: Youth Arts Month Kickoff Music & Dance Showcase will take place at the Old Liberty Theater. There is a suggested donation of $10 to attend.

During the day and evening, there will be art displays and festivities all around town. A Coloring Contest will be going on all day at Ridgefield Floral & Gifts.

First Saturdays in Ridgefield allow community members to come together to enjoy theme-related events and activities that include local artists displaying their work, sidewalk chalk drawing contests, athletic events and other pop-up activities. There is also always a Farmers Market, sidewalk sales, outdoor concerts, local eateries and food vendors to enhance the festive atmosphere.
