Parking lot at Vancouver Mall turns into place to be for movie night
Thumbs up!
Five Stars!
Now in its third week of entertaining the masses!
It’s the return of drive-in movies in Clark County.
Well, sort of.
Pop-Up Cinema is bringing the drive-in movie experience to Vancouver, a few movies at a time.
This week, it was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verce on Thursday. On Friday night, it will be Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. And on Saturday, look for Shrek 2.
More movies are expected to be announced for the following weeks.
Organizers told Clark County Today that the plan is to schedule movies on every Friday and Saturday, and some on Thursdays, until movie theaters reopen or until the weather turns. So expect a chance to see movies, from your car, through September and perhaps into October.
The cost is $20 per car. There are concessions. Those who wish to set up outside of their cars — in chairs or sleeping bags, for example — can do so but are asked to stay near their family members, near their car. When walking to concessions, film goers are asked to wear a mask.
A giant inflatable screen is used. It is set up about a half-hour before the movie begins. Audio for the movie can be heard through a car radio.
Organizers said they are not allowed to announce their movies well in advance. Please check with the company’s Facebook page later for next week’s movies: https://www.facebook.com/Pop-Up-Cinemas-100318785061223
