In 1958, Carolyn graduated from Flat Rock High School in Indiana at the age of 17. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from God’s Bible School and College in 1962. While there,  she met Larry Womelsdorf, a young man from Oregon who left the Air Force for song evangelism ministry.  They were married on June 10,1963. Carolyn worked and assisted Larry over the next four years until he graduated.

After they left God’s Bible School,  they began ministering in Cincinnati, OH., Salem, OR, Noblesville, IN, Vancouver, WA, and finally in 1968 they moved to View, WA, to pastor the Hazen Chapel Wesleyan Church.

Carolyn and Larry had four children, Rachel, Rebekah, Lauren, and Jonathan. Over time, all four of Carolyn and Larry’s children moved to the southeast part of the US which led her to do extensive traveling to many states and visit this beautiful country. She loved travel, painting, music, reading, and going to the beach. Carolyn was a faithful mother, and a dedicated pastor’s wife who played the piano, sang, led music, taught Sunday School, decorated the church, etc.  She encouraged her children in singing and the family sang together for church. She opened her home to countless children, teenagers and sometimes families who needed a place to live. She cooked many Sunday meals for family and friends.

She served as chaperone for Battle Ground High School choirs from 1982-1995 with many students calling her “Mom W.” Carolyn worked part-time at the Reflector Newspaper and printshop, in Battle Ground, WA, from 1988 to 2016.  In 2018, Carolyn was granted a Wesleyan local ministerial license to continue the ministry at Hazen Chapel that they were called to in 1968.

After Larry’s home-going in August of 2018, the church at Hazen Chapel voted Carolyn in to continue the ministry. They spent 55 years together and she will be laid to rest next to Larry in the Mountain View Cemetery that surrounds their beloved Hazen Chapel and across from their family home.
