The Humane Society for Southwest Washington welcomes return of the holidays

VANCOUVER — The Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW) welcomes the return of the holiday season with two annual traditions — Pet Portraits with Santa and A Christmas Tail holiday store within ReTails Thrift Stores.

On Fri., Dec. 2, from 2-6 p.m. and Sat., Dec. 3, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Holiday Pet Portraits will take place at ReTails Thrift Store, located at 5000 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., in Vancouver. Digital images will be available for download the following week. Printed images are not available on site.

Pet portrait sessions cost $15 and do not require an appointment. To save time, registration forms may be completed in advance by visiting here.

A Christmas Tail is a store within a store that features wreaths, trees, ornaments and a large variety of other holiday items. The holiday store is produced and staffed by HSSW volunteers. Both holiday programs — Pet Portraits and A Christmas Tail — help support HSSW.

ReTails is owned and operated by the Humane Society for Southwest Washington and 100 percent of all proceeds help support animals in their care. ReTails is open Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sat.-Sun., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.. The store is located at 5000 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., in Vancouver. To learn more about the store, visit here.

Cats are available for adoption at ReTails Thrift Store every day. Dogs and cats are always available for adoption at HSSW during regular shelter hours, Tue.-Sun., noon-6 p.m. For a list of all animals currently available for adoption, visit the Humane Society’s website or call (360) 693-4746.

All pet adoptions include spay or neuter surgery, microchip ID system and national registration, vaccinations, free veterinary exam with a local participating veterinarian, animal training information and low-cost pet insurance options.
