Friends of the Concert benefit concert to feature Northwest Harmony Chorus and Bridge Town Sound

Guests are asked to bring a donation of toiletries and/or new underwear (for men and women)

VANCOUVER — A benefit concert to support Friends of the Carpenter (FOC) will be held on Sun. May 19, 4 to 6 p.m., at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 3500 NW 129th St., Vancouver. The concert is free and open to the public; a freewill offering will be held.

“We invite the community to join us for an afternoon of fun, refreshments and music all while helping us help Friends of the Carpenter. Northwest Harmony Chorus and Bridge Town Sound will both perform songs from every era, from the ‘20s to today, from classic jazz to current Broadway hit, all in their unique barbershop style,” said Tom Iberle, executive director.

Northwest Harmony Chorus is a group of dynamic women singing a capella, four-part harmony in the barbershop style. Bridge Town Sound is the performing chorus of the Portland Metro chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Guests are asked to bring a donation of toiletries and/or new underwear (for men and women) which will be handed out at FOC’s next HUGS (Hats, Underwear, Gloves, Socks) event. Guests will also have a chance to win a door prize, featuring hand-made, wood items from the FOC Friendship Center.

About Friends of the Carpenter

Friends of the Carpenter was incorporated in Vancouver, WA in Oct. 1998 and began as a vision of a practical outreach of simple welcome and personal interaction between volunteers from the church and people living in poverty. Since the beginning, regular contact has been made with vulnerable members of our community through woodworking events scheduled around the area and which, today, are mostly held at FOC’s Friendship Center. Our mission: Friends of the Carpenter is a non-profit, faith-based day facility that provides safety, structure and purpose for vulnerable members of our community.
