VANCOUVER — Clark County’s Master Composter/Recycler program is accepting registrations for free composting and green cleaning workshops. To register, visit https://clarkgreenneighbors.org/mcr/classes-and-workshops.
Workshops are:
- Backyard composting: Sat., May 20, 10 a.m.-noon, CASEE, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie, and Tue., June 20, 6-8 p.m., 78th Street Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St. Learn how to build a backyard compost pile that turns yard waste into garden gold.
- Lasagna gardening: Sat., June 3, 10 a.m.-noon, CASEE, 11104 N.E. 149th St., Brush Prairie. Learn how to create lush, easy-care gardens in practically any location without hours of back-breaking digging or soil-breaking tilling.
- Green cleaning: Thu., June 8, 6-8 p.m., Clark County Operations Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St. Learn how to make versatile green household cleaners. Free kits and ingredients provided.
- Wormshop: Tue., June 13, 6-8 p.m., 78th Street Heritage Farm, 1919 N.E. 78th St. Receive a free bin, worms, information and resources, and learn how to build and maintain a worm bin.
“These workshops help people set up successful composting operations at home and live a more healthy, sustainable lifestyle,” said Pete DuBois, Master Composter/Recycler Program coordinator.
The Master Composter/Recycler program educates the community about easy ways to reduce waste, increase recycling, and rethink our impact on natural resources. Master Composter/Recyclers, who have received 30 hours of training, help teach the classes.
