ESD 112 Board of Directors select Kevin Davis as new District 7 board member

District 7 includes Camas and Washougal school districts as well as parts of the Evergreen School District

The Board of Directors for Educational Service District (ESD) 112 has selected Kevin Davis as its newest member of the board. Davis, a former educator and school administrator in the ESD 112 region, will represent District 7, which includes Roosevelt, Wishram, Centerville, Klickitat, Glenwood, Trout Lake, Lyle, White Salmon Valley, Mill A, Stevenson-Carson, Skamania, Washougal, Mount Pleasant, and Camas School Districts: as well as parts of the Evergreen School District. He replaces Ann Campbell, who resigned in January 2022 after serving for 27 years on the board.

Davis has 35 years of experience as an educator, education administrator, and coach in the Klickitat School District. He started as a classroom teacher and evolved his career to serve in positions including grant administrator, principal, and superintendent; often serving in some of these positions simultaneously.

ESD 112 Superintendent Tim Merlino said the board went through a thorough application and interview process and selected Davis for the position. “We’re excited to welcome him to the ESD board, appreciate his strong background in K-12 education, and his experience leading a small school district in our region,” said Merlino.

Current Board President Darlene Stickel said “Kevin will serve alongside many longstanding leaders in education on the ESD 112 Board. We welcome the perspective he brings that will be invaluable to our work to equalize educational opportunity.”

“As the leader of a small school district, I relied on many of the services provided by ESD 112,” Davis said. “Services like business management, legal support, public relations support, and everything in between, were critical to us, and I have a unique understanding of the importance of the ESD for rural schools.”

ESD board members are volunteers who attend monthly meetings held at the ESD headquarters in Vancouver.

Davis earned his bachelor’s degree, teaching certificates, and master’s degree from Washington State University. He and his wife, Rene, have a daughter, a son, and a granddaughter, and reside in Klickitat, Washington.

Davis will be sworn in at the ESD 112 board meeting on Tues., March 29, at 3 p.m.
