VANCOUVER — Clark County Historical Museum staff members are excited to announce the museum will reopen to the general public on Thursday (April 15). Temporary reopening hours of operation will be Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until further notice.

Admission to the museum will be on a first-come-first-served basis. To show appreciation for the continued hard work and dedication of frontline workers and their families, CCHM is offering complimentary admission to first responders and essential healthcare workers with ID.

Attendance in the galleries will be held to 50 percent capacity in accordance with Washington State Phase III COVID-19 guidelines. In addition, all recommended and mandatory safety measures, including mask requirements, one-way paths through the galleries, and enhanced sanitizing and cleaning protocols remain in effect. To help ensure public safety and prevent crowds, staggered entry may be implemented.

“Though the museum has its bumps and bruises from our time closed from 2020-2021, we’re overjoyed to welcome the public back into our historic building to hear Clark County’s story.” said CCHM Executive Director Bradley Richardson.

As with our short-term reopening in October, indoor exhibits will be available with controlled attendance to allow for social distancing between visitors. In each gallery, guests will arrive through one entrance and follow a guided path. Most interactive exhibits have been restructured to allow touchless operation with a few removed that could not be modified.

Enhanced cleaning continues throughout the museum, including increased frequency of disinfecting high-traffic surfaces. Hand sanitizer stations are available across the building. In accordance with state health mandates, staff and all visitors, will be required to wear face coverings.

As recommended by public health officials, individuals with serious medical conditions, including those unable to wear a mask, should delay their visit or contact the museum prior to their visit to discuss reasonable accommodation options.

Private group tours will be permitted on Wednesdays for small groups. In-person events normally held at the museum remain virtual and the museum will not be taking rental requests through 2021. The Research Library and Brautigan Library will be available by reservation only. Reservations must be made no less than two weeks in advance by contacting the museum.
