CAMAS — Looking for a few pops of color to brighten your winter? The Camas Gallery may be your best bet in February.
The downtown Camas art gallery, located at 408 N.E. 4th Ave., will feature glass artist Vicki Green’s vibrant artwork throughout the month of February.
Green started her work as a glass artist more than 35 years ago, after taking a stained glass course at a local art studio.
Since then, the artist has branched out considerably.
Green learned the art of kiln-formed glass after traveling to Italy in 2004 to visit glass art galleries and watch Italian glass masters perfect their kiln-formed (or fused-glass) pieces; and she established her company, CoElla Glass, named after her grandchildren, Collin and Ella, in 2009.
In 2013, she retired from her career in the high tech industry and says on her website that working with glass throughout her working years help keep her “life in balance.” Nowadays, Green says, she spends most of her days working in her art studio.
Green says she often incorporates her own life experiences into her artwork, which often showcases clean lines and modern geometrical shapes set into bold, rich colors.
“My glass artwork continually evolves and often expresses my interpretation of elements of nature, life experiences and textiles,” Green states in an autobiography section on her CoElla Glass site. “I find myself exploring gradient lines, shadows and depth, which are attained through multiple processes and constant experimentation.”
Camas Gallery will show Green’s artwork throughout the entire month, from Feb. 1-28, and will host a First Friday reception from 5 to 8 p.m., Fri., Feb. 3 at the gallery in historic downtown Camas. This event is free and open to the public.
Camas Gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. The gallery is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
