Battle Ground Public Schools’ students and staff will celebrate the holiday season with food drives, gift donations, school assemblies and musical performances. Below is a list of all the public events happening this holiday season.
Primary Schools
Daybreak Primary is hosting a food drive until Dec. 12. The school also has an annual Giving Tree, where students are nominated by their teacher to receive gifts and holiday assistance if they feel the family would benefit.
Glenwood Heights Primary is having a food drive until Dec. 13.
On Dec. 9 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the school is hosting Cocoa and Caring, a festive annual event that celebrates the winter season. This year’s Polar Express theme will take visitors to a winter wonderland full of fun activities and yummy treats for the whole family.
Glenwood Heights’ Winter Concert has two performances on Fri., Dec. 16. The first performance will take place from 1:30 to 2:10 p.m., followed by another performance from 2:30 to 3:10 p.m.
Pleasant Valley’s Glee Club will perform at the annual Providence Festival of Trees on Fri., Dec. 2, at 5:45 p.m. at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $9 for those age 55 and older, $8 for ages 3-12, and free for children 2 and younger. Tukes Valley Primary School second, third and fourth graders will be at Mallard Landing Assisted Living, 813 SE Clark Ave., in Battle Ground on Dec. 6 at 5:15 p.m. to sing Christmas carols to the residents.
Yacolt Primary’s third grade students have concert performances on Thu., Dec. 15 at 2:55 p.m. and 7 p.m. where they will sing a variety of holiday songs.
Middle Schools
Amboy Middle School is hosting a holiday food drive throughout December. The Country Fair Bazaar is from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 3, and the school’s holiday band concert is on Thu., Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
Chief Umtuch’s sixth through eighth grade band has a concert on Thu., Dec. 8 at 7 p.m, and the school choir will perform on Thu., Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.
On Fri., Dec. 2 from 6-8 p.m.., the school will take part in Barnes & Noble night at 7700 NE Fourth Plain Blvd., in Vancouver. The public is invited to enjoy art, student performances and book recommendations while showing support for Chief Umtuch.
Daybreak Middle School’s holiday band concert is Thu., Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
Laurin Middle School’s band has a winter concert on Mon., Dec. 12 from 6-8 p.m., and the school choir’s winter concert will be on Tue., Jan. 12 from 6-8 p.m.
Pleasant Valley Middle School is collecting non-perishable food for their winter food drive from Dec. 5 to Dec. 16
Tukes Valley Middle School has their winter concert on Thu., Dec. 1 at 7 p.m., and the Candy Cane Bazaar from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 3.
High Schools
Battle Ground High School has a choir and band concert at 7 p.m. on Tue., Dec., 13.
Prairie High School has a band and choir concert on Thu., Dec. 15 from 7-9 p.m., and a bookfair at Barnes & Noble, 7700 NE Fourth Plain Blvd., in Vancouver on Dec. 10.
Summit View High School is sponsoring a food drive from now until Dec. 13 and is participating in a holiday gift sponsorship through the Clark County Food Bank to buy gifts for local children in need.
