BATTLE GROUND — A few dozen area residents turned out Saturday to participate in the “Love Battle Ground Community Service Project.’’
The volunteers met Saturday morning at Kiwanis Park and then broke up into groups and spread around the Battle Ground area to clean up and spruce up their community.
“We had a great time meeting and serving with other church members from around town,’’ said Amy Davis, who participated along with her husband and two sons. “We are so thankful for our community and it was a pleasure to give back by helping out today.’’
Davis and her family were among a group of volunteers who helped clean up Fairgrounds Park and pick up trash along South Parkway.
“Even in the rain, there were a lot of smiles and a lot of fun coming together in unity to serve, Davis said. “We even had a few people pull over on Parkway and ask us who our group was and what we were up to.’’
The service project was part of a collective effort of 10 Battle Ground-area churches. The churches have also offered a four-sermon series that began on Oct. 6 and will conclude on Sun., Oct. 27. The series covers how area residents can glorify God by loving their neighbors and serving others.
