Friends of the Carpenter and Bridge Town Sound will be the featured performers during a benefit concert at Family of Life Christian Church in Vancouver
Friends of the Carpenter will hold a benefit concert to bolster its faith-based mission of providing safety, structure and purpose for vulnerable members of our community on May 20.
The Sunday event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Family of Life Christian Church, 3500 NW 129th St., Vancouver.
The concert will include music by Northwest Harmony Chorus and Bridge Town Sound. The two choruses will perform music from the 1920s through today, singing tunes based in everything from jazz to current Broadway hits in their unique barbershop style.
Concert pianist and entertainer Jim Fischer will serve at the concert’s master of ceremony.Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased at Friends of the Carpenter, 1600 W 20th St., Vancouver; 2nd Chance Thrift Store, 3414-A NE 52nd St., Vancouver; Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 3500 NW 129th St., Vancouver; or at the door on the day of the event.
Refreshments will be served.
“Northwest Harmony Chorus is a group of dynamic women singing A capella 4-part harmony in the barbershop style” Friends of the Carpenter said in a press release. “Bridge Town Sound is the performing chorus of the Portland Metro chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.”

Friends of the Carpenter was incorporated in Vancouver in October 1998 and began as a vision of a practical outreach of simple welcome and personal interaction between volunteers from the church and people living in poverty, according to the organization. Since the beginning, regular contact has been made with the homeless and poor people of the community through woodworking events that are today held at FOC’s Friendship Center.
