BATTLE GROUND – The Battle Ground Senior Citizens group has grown to nearly 500 on the roster. They are now serving close to 200 seniors at the monthly luncheon. The organization goes through numerous supplies for the luncheon and provides continued communications to local seniors.
Lori Lindberg, board advisor for the Battle Ground Senior Citizens, Inc. threw down a challenge to the local Rotary groups. She met with both Battle Ground Rotary and Lewis River Rotary Clubs and asked them to donate needed items for the Battle Ground Senior Citizens organization. To make the event more interesting and fun, Detroit Pizza donated a pizza party on the patio to the group which brought in the most donations. The groups had two weeks to gather donations of items used for the luncheon, office supplies, raffle items and more to help provide needed items for the senior group. At the end of two weeks the Rotarians gathered over $4,000 in goods. Battle Ground Rotary was the winning group.

“Lewis River Rotarians strongly believe in participating in community events and activities. This fundraising campaign is a good example of the role we strive for,” said Lewis River Rotary President Lisa Oldham.
“Battle Ground Rotary always enjoys finding ways to serve our community. And this fundraiser was an event that was really enjoyed by all the members,” said Battle Ground Rotary President David Welch
“We were completely astonished by the overwhelming support of donations from our local Rotarians. These items are so needed and will help us serving our near 500 seniors on the roster now,” said BGSC President Sharon Wodtke.
