Food and fun return as Riverside Christian School will host the 30th Apple Festival as a fundraiser for students who need financial aid
There was a pause to the annual event.
It returned last year, but only a soft relaunch.
This year? It’s back. Fully back.
Riverside Christian School in Washougal is hosting the 30th Apple Festival on Sunday, Oct. 13, to raise funds for students who could use financial assistance.
More than 30 vendors — food, drinks, crafts, and more — plus games and activities are scheduled to be on site for the event, which runs from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. In the past, more than 1,000 community members have attended the one-day only festival.
“This festival is a long-standing tradition in our community, and we are thrilled to bring it back after a pause,” according to a press release. “This event not only offers a fun day for families and local businesses but also serves a greater purpose — all proceeds go directly back into our classrooms and to assist students with financial aid. It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring our community together and support education.”
The 29th festival was held in 2019. The pandemic put a pause on operations. It returned in a soft relaunch last year, but was not open to the public. This year, it is open to the public again.
The Apple Festival will be held at the school’s campus,
This past weekend, organizers baked 1,100 apple dumplings to be sold at the festival.
Parking is free. There is handicapped parking on campus. Others are asked to park at the Sandy Swimming Hole lot or the lot at the former bowling alley. Shuttle services will be provided throughout the event.
Riverside Christian School is located at 463 N. Shepherd Road in Washougal.
