Annual community event celebrated its 20th anniversary Saturday
RIDGEFIELD — Adults and children alike flocked to downtown Ridgefield Saturday for the annual BirdFest & Bluegrass Festival. It was the 20th anniversary of the event, which takes place at various locations in downtown Ridgefield and also at the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge.
Those in attendance enjoyed activities such as Bluegrass musical performances at Old Liberty Theater, themed family friendly activities, the Ridgefield Farmers Market and arts & crafts designed for children in attendance.
For many, the highlight of the festival was the rare opportunity to view birds such as a Turkey Vulture, Peregrine Falcon and a Red Tailed Hawk. The Oregon Zoo ZAP provided hands-on learning opportunities at a display in Overlook Park and the Audubon Society of Portland provided a live bird show at Union Ridge Elementary.
