2017 Planters Days set to begin Thursday

WOODLAND — Woodland’s Planters Days celebration is now in its 95th year and all evidence indicates the event is as popular as ever. The theme for this year’s Planters Days is “Where Woodland Comes Alive.’’

The four-day event will kick off on Thu., June 15 and the schedule remains full through Sunday afternoon with family-friendly activities scheduled throughout downtown Woodland.

Popular activities on the 2017 Planters Days schedule include the fireworks display (sponsored by the Port of Woodland), Queen Coronation, carnival, parade, Frog Jumping Contest, Bed Races and more. There will also be a raffle with winners announced on Sunday. First prize is $5,000 cash. Second prize is a Big Tex Traeger Grill with accessories and third prize is an Apple iWatch 2.

Perhaps the centerpiece event of Woodland’s Planters Days celebration is the parade, to be held this year on Sat., June 17 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. along Davidson Ave. in Woodland. Photo by Mike Schultz
