Opinion: Woke revolutionaries fabricate ‘domestic violent extremism’

In her weekly column, Nancy Churchill addresses ‘Wokeism’s Big Lie’

In an important article titled “Woke revolutionaries versus Americanists” published by The American Mind, the authors lay out an interesting description of the current cold civil war. On one hand, we have woke revolutionaries, who believe America is and always has been systemically racist. On the other side are “… those who believe that America is good, that its principles are the greatest antidote to racism ever created, and that preserving America and its principles is the highest and most urgent political calling.” The authors call these American patriots “Americanists.”

“For the American regime, a just society is one in which free men and women pursue happiness according to their abilities and according to nature. Such a society is one where merit is central — where the society recognizes the natural differences in the interests and abilities among various groups.

“For the woke regime, on the other hand, a just society is one where the regime imposes identity group quotas based on victimhood rankings. Such a regime makes war on nature and merit, and thus on America. The goal of the woke regime is what the woke revolutionaries perversely call ‘equity,’ by which they mean statistical equality of result for all preferred ethnic and gender groups in all aspects of life.

Wokeism’s Big Lie

“Their first critical step is making Americans deeply ashamed of themselves and their past, thereby making them inclined to trade in the American merit regime for the woke group quota regime. This requires a big lie. Every totalitarian regime, hard or soft, has one. The woke regime’s big lie is that America is systemically racist and about to be overrun by racists, a.k.a. Republican voters.”

Here in Washington state, we can see this strategy in action with the introduction of HB 1333 on “Domestic Violent Extremism.” This bill from the woke regime focuses on weaponizing the power of the HEALTH department against one race — whites. This bill also attacks the practitioners of one religion — Christianity.

Other sub-groups are exempt from consideration as terrorists because they will have a seat on this commission: blacks, Muslims, Jews, Asians, Sikhs, Latinos, LGBTQ, immigrants, and Africans. In addition, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, a representative from public health and one from the tribes will also have a seat on this commission. Only whites and Christians are excluded.

‘Terrorism’ or ‘Violent Extremism’?

Attorney General Bob Ferguson’s “2022 Domestic Terrorism Report” explains that the statutory term “domestic terrorism” necessarily includes “acts dangerous to human life.” Therefore, “domestic terrorism” is not a broad enough term. The Attorney General wants to expand his legal ability to target anyone who exercises their free speech rights to express “…other forms of extremist and political violence… online disinformation… and the general spread of extreme white supremacist, anti government and other ideologies…” The attorney general’s office describes this unusually broad scope using the umbrella term of “domestic violent extremism”.

The extremism and violence organized by riotous gangs during Seattle’s “summer of love” were completely ignored in the attorney general’s report. Instead, the focus was on small and marginal groups located in both Oregon and Washington. The actions of the small groups targeted by Ferguson’s report are much less impactful than the violence and property damage caused by the woke stormtroopers which took over a Seattle Police precinct.

To understand some of the woke linguistic tricks used in the 2022 Domestic Terrorism Report, consider the following ideas.

“Misinformation” and “disinformation” might refer to any facts, opinions or ideas which oppose the woke ideology of the day.

“Extreme white supremacist” could be weaponized against any religious (or secular) group which opposes abortion and supports the right to life of an unborn baby. It might also be applied to those who are against minority group quotas at work, in volunteer boards or at school.

“Anti Government” could refer to those who work to uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights, or even those who work to promote small government and limited taxation. It’s very concerning there is NO language in HB 1333 that clearly defines the meaning of “domestic violent extremism.” How can the proposed commission study something that is undefined? Who decides the legal definition of this overly broad and vague term? How can we protect the rights of all, not just the rights of the politically woke?

Take Action to Save our Democracy If you agree that HB 1333 is an extreme woke attempt to stifle freedom of speech and freedom of religion; an attempt to silence political opponents; an attempt to weaponize government against American ideals in an attempt to destroy the American way of life, then it’s time to take action. This toxic bill is in the House Appropriations committee this week. Please take a moment to write a polite note in opposition to this bill to the chair of the House Appropriations Committee, Timm Ormsby at timm.ormsby@leg.wa.gov and ask him to kill this poorly written bill in committee. Please also carbon copy the minority ranking member, Drew Stokesbary, at drew.stokesbary@leg.wa.gov.

When we participate in the process of lawmaking, we are doing our part to save our Democracy.
