Clark County resident Rob Anderson, who is known as ‘The Recovering Pastor,’ offers his thoughts on what he terms ‘the implosion of America’

We are witnessing the implosion of America that used to be known for the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”
Not anymore.
It’s not Covid’s fault, by the way. It’s our fault … all of us. Covid just revealed how complacent and distracted we’ve all become. Instead of remaining vigilant over “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” we have exchanged freedom for a false promises of safety from our fears for decades that the experts & bureaucrats have purported. Yet, this kinda fear can’t be exchanged but can only be exercised away.
In the aftermath of this lingering fear, we have turned against each other … citizen against citizen, black against white, poor vs. rich, elite over the common, mask against mask-less and the list goes on. Fear rules the day on every side and this fear only begets harm and havoc no matter how righteous you feel or side you take.
You might not believe in God but His teachings hold the answer. Maybe you think I’m talking about religion and church but I’m not. They too have failed miserably. I’m talking about what is at its core of God’s message given centuries ago “love one another.” You don’t have to be religious to embrace this truth, our framers made sure of that.
Like it or not our country was founded on “We The People” and this concept cannot survive without holding it sacred AND loving each other deeply. Both must be done simultaneously or it collapses.
The Founding Fathers struggled against tyrannical powers that thought they knew better. Every generation must do the same or risk forfeiting our rightful claim of “land of the free and home of the brave” forever.
America is imploding but it’s not too late to change.
