VANCOUVER — A celebration of life for District Court Judge Vernon L. Schreiber will begin at 1 p.m. Sat., May 13, at the Clark County Event Center, Hall B, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield.
Judge Schreiber died Tue., April 25, after a brief illness. He was 74.
Judge Schreiber was hired in January 1987 as a Clark County District Court magistrate, a position now known as a court commissioner. He was elected to District Court in 1998 and took the bench as a judge in January 1999.

He presided over Domestic Violence Court, Substance Abuse Court, Drug Court and Mental Health Court. Prior to working at Clark County, he was in private practice as a family law attorney.
Judge Schreiber was a graduate of the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Vichas, daughters, Kristin Schreiber Johnston and Kerrie Schreiber Warner, and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
