On Friday (Sept. 3) at about 1:28 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to the 19400 block of SE 9th Street for the report of a carjacking and theft. The victim was checking his mail when a vehicle pulled up beside him. Two males approached the victim, pointed a firearm, and stole his vehicle and cell phone. The victim’s vehicle was located a few blocks away unoccupied. The victim was not injured. The suspects were described as black males in their 20’s.

At approximately 3:29 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to the area of MacArthur Blvd./S. Lieser Road for the report of an attempted carjacking and shooting. The victim was stopped at the intersection, a vehicle pulled up, one male exited the vehicle, pointed a gun at the victim and ordered him out of his vehicle and then subsequently shot the victim in the leg. The other male attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle; however, it has a manual transmission, and they were apparently unable to drive it away.  The suspects fled the scene. They were described as black males. The victim’s injury appears non-life threatening.

The Safe Streets Task Force is investigating both incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police Tip Line at (360) 487-7399.
