Vancouver Police investigate fatal shooting


Newspaper delivery man shot an unidentified male who entered his unoccupied vehicle early Saturday

VANCOUVER – A newspaper delivery man shot and killed an unidentified man who got into his unoccupied vehicle early Saturday morning near the Vancouver waterfront.

On Saturday (April 17), at about 4:32 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to the 700 block of Waterfront Way for the report of a shooting. A 35-year-old male was delivering newspapers in the area. He left his vehicle to make a delivery and when he returned, he saw an unknown adult male sitting inside his vehicle. 

At some point, the delivery person, who has a concealed pistol license, shot the person inside the vehicle. At this time, it is unknown what precipitated the shooting. The person who was shot did not survive and has not been identified. 

There is no danger to the public according to law enforcement officials.

The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating and Waterfront Way, for an approximate 2 block radius, was closed for several hours while investigators were on scene.
