Vancouver man arrested and charged with arson in fire at Shanahan’s Pub

Vancouver resident Eugene Scott, 44, was booked at the Clark County Jail for Arson in the 1st Degree

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has made an arrest in the investigation of an arson fire that took place Jan. 9 at Shanahan’s Pub in Vancouver.

Vancouver resident Eugene Scott, 44, was booked at the Clark County Jail for Arson in the 1st Degree.

On Saturday (Jan. 9) at about 2:06 p.m., VPD patrol units and Vancouver Fire Department  engine crews responded to a report of a fire on the roof of Shanahan’s Pub and Grill, located at 209 W. McLoughlin Blvd.  VFD deputy fire marshals and investigators from the VPD Arson Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

It was confirmed that the fire was intentionally set by an unknown suspect.  Witnesses reported a male approaching the location carrying a ladder and a bucket; witnesses also observed a male with the same description running away from the scene minutes later around the time of the fire.

Through the following joint investigation by the Vancouver Fire Departments’ Fire Marshal’s office and the VPD Arson Investigations unit, Scott was identified as a potential suspect.

On Thursday, VPD Arson Unit investigators, VPD Property Crimes Unit detectives, and a VFD Deputy Fire Marshal served a search warrant at Scott’s Vancouver residence.  Further evidence of the arson was recovered during the search.

The arson investigation is ongoing at this time and no further details are available for release.
