The funnel cloud was spotted over the Orchards area with another near Sifton
VANCOUVER — A confirmed funnel cloud spotted over the Orchards area of Vancouver prompted the National Weather Service in Portland to issue a rare tornado warning for the area.
Weather spotters reported the funnel cloud shortly after 7:45 p.m., though it wasn’t immediately clear if the tornado touched down or caused any damage. A possible second funnel cloud was reported shortly after 8 p.m. in the Sifton area, moving east at 15 miles per hour.
The tornado warning expired at 8:15 p.m., but forecasters warned that more storms are possible overnight, along with localized flooding due to heavy rain. Emergency officials warned motorists to be watchful of standing water along I-5 and I-205 this evening.
Another possible tornado was spotted earlier on Sunday evening in Northwest Portland near Old Cornelius Pass Road, potentially causing some scattered damage.
