YACOLT — A 13-year-old boy who was reportedly shot accidentally in Yacolt yesterday has died of his injuries.
According to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, on Oct. 16 at approximately 1:39 p.m., deputies were dispatched to an accidental shooting in Yacolt. It was reported to 9-1-1 that a 13-year-old juvenile has been shot accidentally and that they were requesting an ambulance.
The boy was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate this incident, which currently appears to be accidental. The firearm involved in the incident was a .30-caliber hunting rifle. No additional details involving the incident will be released at this time, due to the nature of the investigation.
The names of the victim or anyone involved in this incident will not be released at this time. Appropriate notifications have been made to family and school personnel, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Clark County Major Crimes Detectives were called to the residence and are investigating the incident.
