Program will operate June 21 to August 13 providing free grab-n-go meals
VANCOUVER – Share’s Summer Meals program will operate June 21 to August 13 providing free grab-n-go meals to all children and teens 18 and under. Children must be present to receive a meal.
“Food is incredibly important for a developing child or teen and yet over 20,000 children in Clark County are considered food insecure, meaning they do not know when or where their next meal is coming,” said Becci Read-Ryan, hunger and nutrition programs manager. “Share has partnered with Evergreen Public Schools, Vancouver Public Schools, as well as multiple faith-based communities and local apartment complexes. We are extremely grateful for their participation and commitment to helping feed children in our community.”
All meals sites, including dates and time during which meals will be served, can be viewed at sharevancouver.org/summer-meals-program; program information is also available in Spanish. Please note that no meals will be provided at any site location on July 5, in recognition of the national July 4 holiday.
Share needs volunteers to prepare and deliver meals. For more information or to sign up for a volunteer shift, visit sharevancouver.org/volunteer/summer-meals-program-volunteer/ or contact Molly Evjen at mevjen@sharevancouver.org. Volunteers must be 12 years or older to volunteer in a commercial kitchen and volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Summer Meals is a federally funded, state-administered program that reimburses providers who serve free healthy meals to children and teens when school is not in session. No paperwork is required to receive meals and Share does not collect personal information. Share is an equal opportunity provider.
