Finalists will be interviewed Feb. 12 & 13
VANCOUVER — The Clark County Council invites residents to meet the two finalists for county manager during an open house 5-6 pm Mon., Feb. 12, in the sixth-floor Hearing Room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver.
The two finalists are Dan Chandler, assistant county administrator for Clackamas County, Oregon, and Randall Partington, administrator for Finney County, Kansas.
Chandler, a previous 20-year resident of Clark County, has worked in public, private and nonprofit management. He has expertise in land use, transportation, strategic planning, performance budgeting and economic development. He has held his current position since 2011. Earlier, he worked as an attorney, executive director of American Wildlands and small business owner. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Western Washington University and a law degree at Harvard Law School.
Partington has been Finney County administrator since 2010 and earlier served as the county’s assistant administrator and Human Resources director. Earlier, he worked as a city administrator and county budget analyst in Kansas. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Kansas State University and Master of Public Administration at Wichita State University.
The candidates also will have several opportunities to meet county employees and community leaders during their two-day stay in Clark County. A panel of county employees and a panel of community members will interview the candidates Mon., Feb. 12, and the Clark County Council will interview them Tues., Feb. 13. The council is expected to make a selection soon thereafter.
