Community invited behind the scenes with Washington’s third-oldest port
VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Port of Vancouver USA’s popular public tours are back again in 2023 with 10 tours offered between May and September. Each tour features a briefing about the Columbia Snake River System and how cargo moves on the river, an overview of the port’s commercial and industrial operations, the port’s budget and governance and a look at current projects.
The free public tours start and end at the port’s administration office and feature light snacks and refreshments. After the briefing, participants board a bus for a behind-the-scenes look at the port’s marine terminals, rail infrastructure and industrial facilities. Tour dates and times for 2023 are:
- Thursday, May 11 – 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 24 – 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 6 – 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, June 24 – 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Thursday, July 13 – 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, July 29 – 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 9 – 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Saturday, August 26 – 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 6 – 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Saturday, September 23 – 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Attendees must bring to the tours government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license or passport because they will travel through secured areas of the port overseen by the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Coast Guard.
