One lane will remain open at all times during the work, part of the biennial inspection process.
Both the southbound and northbound spans of the Interstate Bridge will see separate overnight lane closures next week for the biennial bridge inspection.
During the closures, one lane will always remain open and the sidewalks on both spans will be open at all times.
Here are the details:
• Two northbound lanes will close at 10 p.m. Mon., May 9 and again at 10 p.m. Tue., May 10. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
• Two southbound lanes will close at 10 p.m. Wed., May 11 and again at 10 p.m. Thu., May 12. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.
• A barge on Columbia River will inspect the underside of the bridge during the week of May 16-20. The inspection by the barge will have no impact on bridge traffic.
The Interstate Bridge is jointly owned by Oregon and Washington and is operated and maintained by ODOT. The northbound span opened in 1917 and the southbound span in 1958.
