The closure is scheduled to remain in place no later than Tue., Dec. 1; closure end date is weather dependent
VANCOUVER – Regular drivers along the Northeast Manley Road near Northeast 254th Street can expect continued lane closures as contractors with Clark County Public Works continue culvert replacement work.
Clark County closed approximately 1400 feet of roadway in the spring to allow crews to replace two undersized culverts under Northeast Manley Road. The original closure was scheduled to end Oct. 31, however crews encountered unfavorable weather conditions, including this summer’s hazardous air quality, that prevented them from completing the work.
The closure is scheduled to remain in place no later than Tue., Dec. 1. Closure end date is weather dependent.
Drivers should continue to choose an alternate route during the closure and adhere to posted detour signage while in the project area. During construction, local access will still be maintained for residences, businesses and emergency vehicles.
Clark County Public Works’ contractor, Lee Contractors, of Battle Ground, will continue work to replace four existing, undersized, failing culverts with new culvert structures. The new structures will allow aquatic life and debris to pass through. Construction will include clearing trees, installing four new culvert structures, placing riprap, stream restoration, roadway widening, installation of guardrail/guardrail upgrades, striping, possible additional signage and relocation of objects from the clear zone where feasible.
The roadway will remain open through winter as the necessary work is dependent on favorable weather. Crews will come back and re-close the road in early summer 2021.
All contracted work is expected to take two construction seasons, with total completion of the project expected in fall 2021.
