Lindsay will be transitioning her career and studying to become an elementary school teacher

RIDGEFIELD – Ridgefield City Council member Jennifer Lindsay has resigned Position 6 on City Council effective Aug. 23, 2024. She will be transitioning her career and studying to become an elementary school teacher. Lindsay will continue to be active in the Ridgefield Community. 

Lindsay and her family moved to Ridgefield in 2009, and she quickly became involved in making a difference in the community. Lindsay has been involved in the Ridgefield Lions Club, Ridgefield Boosters Club, and PTO. 

Prior to serving on the council, she also demonstrated her leadership skills serving as a member of the Ridgefield Planning Commission for two years. In October 2018, Lindsay was appointed to City Council following a mid-term vacancy. She was elected by the people of Ridgefield in November 2019 to retain her seat, and again in November 2021 at the end of her first term. In January 2022, Lindsay was appointed by her peers on the council to serve as mayor of the city of Ridgefield. She served a full two-year term as the chief spokesperson and ceremonial head of the city. 

A statement from the city read, “during her time in office, Jennifer Lindsay demonstrated her dedication to Ridgefield at Council meetings, community meetings, community events, building relationships with community partners, and lobbying for funding for Ridgefield projects at the State and Federal level. Her focus on the Council was preserving Ridgefield’s small town feel amidst growth, creating an interconnected trail system, and maintaining the historical atmosphere of Downtown.’’

State law provides that the City Council shall appoint a qualified person to fill the vacant position within 90 days. The process for appointment will begin after her resignation is effective, August 23, 2024. The term for Position 6 will expire in 2025.
