Steele replaces Richard Richard Deleissegues, who passed away on Sept. 9.
BATTLE GROUND — The Fire District 3 Board of Fire Commissioners has selected a new fire commissioner to replace Commissioner Richard Deleissegues, who passed away on Sept. 9.
Rick Steele was selected on Sept. 24, and he received his Oath of Office on Oct. 8.
Steele has been a Clark County resident his entire life. He and his wife Jill live in the Venersborg area, after 30 years in Hockinson. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
Steele enjoys traveling with his wife in their motorhome to national parks all over the nation. When at home, they both love to work in their yard and garden.
Steele retired from the Vancouver Fire Department in January of 2018 after 33 years of service as a firefighter, captain, and battalion chief. His main hobby is coaching football at Hockinson High School where he has been the head coach for 14 years. He says, “it is an honor to coach the young men of this community.”
Steele adds, “I look forward to serving the citizens of Fire District 3 and the members of this very fine fire department.”
