The residents were home when the fire started and evacuated; there were no injuries
A three-story home in Camas was threatened by fire Sunday.
At 22:54 p.m. on Sunday (July 25), Camas-Washougal Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a house fire in the area of NW 41st Circle and NW Sierra Drive in Camas. Arriving crews found a fully involved garage fire that was threatening the three-story house attached by a breezeway.
A second alarm was requested, bringing in assisting units from Vancouver Fire Department and East County Fire and Rescue.
The residents were home when the fire started and evacuated. There were no injuries. The garage and its contents were a total loss. There was minor fire spread into the house and attic, resulting in smoke and water damage.
The homeowner stated that they had recently cleaned a barbecue and placed the ashes in a metal container in the garage. While it is unknown if this was the cause of the fire, CWFD officials would like to remind everyone that ashes from barbecues and fireplaces should be placed in metal containers, doused with water, and stored outside the home and away from any flammable materials.
Fire investigators will be on scene Monday to try to determine the cause of the fire.
