Each high school (Evergreen, Henrietta Lacks/HeLa, Heritage, Legacy, Mountain View and Union) will be assigned a specific start time
On Wed., Aug. 5, Evergreen Public Schools will hold a graduation celebration for the Class of 2020. Given the social distancing rules currently in place, the ceremony will be conducted as a drive-up event at McKenzie Stadium.
Each high school (Evergreen, Henrietta Lacks/HeLa, Heritage, Legacy, Mountain View and Union) will be assigned a specific start time. Students and family members will queue up in vehicles (one student and family per vehicle), accessing McKenzie via the shared road off NE 18th Street that runs between Evergreen High School and Cascade Middle School. The graduate will then be asked to step out of the vehicle at the stadium, access a stage, be announced and then pose for photos. The student will then return to the vehicle. The event will also be live streamed.
As the district stated earlier this spring, it wanted to provide graduating seniors with some type of in-person ceremony, in addition to the virtual celebrations that already took place in June.
Given the current Washington state guidelines, even having a gathering of social distanced students will still not be possible. The drive-up model will provide the safest method for celebrating the Class of 2020 for students, families and staff.
Specific event and school details will be posted on the district’s website: https://sites.google.com/evergreenps.org/class-of-2020/class-of-2020
